HipHopDX Rejected Me For This

Believe it or not, blogs and playlists want to be the first ones to post a song that is going to be considered HOT! It would have been great to get posted on HipHopDX but unfortunately the mistake I mention in the video below slowed me down.

If they post it late… they look like they were late to the game and look behind and not new and up on stuff.

I learned this hard way. I never thought the timing of WHEN I gave it to them mattered. I thought if it was good they would post it.

And you might think the same thing so of course I wanna help you learn.
I had a really hot song and at the time I was in the gym every single morning with Justin Hunte who is a good friend of mine. At the time he was the Editor In Chief at Hip Hop DX.

Surely he would post it for me right? I saw him everyday.

Well check this out.

Because I absolutely HATE asking anyone for help or asking for favors… I waited until about 6 days AFTER the song came out. Then I asked him and he said… when did the song release?

I said last week… then he explained to me exactly what I said at the beginning of this video…

He said I would have easily posted it for you, you should have given it to me before it released. Now DX would look late on posting it, sorry man. Let me know next time.
I was dumbfounded and felt stupid as hell BUT it taught me a very valuable lesson.

Because I suddenly realized how ALL blogs worked and how THEY don’t even really want to hear it the day OF release… you would actually have a higher chance of the song getting posted if you showed them BEFORE it even released.

Even 2 to 3 days before it released and make them feel special like they are the first to hear it.

Would that not increase the chances that they post the song?

And you might be thinking.. what if they release it earlier than the release date!

Uhm… who cares? FREE promotion either way. Even if they posted your song before the release date. SO WHAT? Who cares… you’re gaining fans!

And there you have it, another moment in history where I screwed myself that you get to learn from.

You just got a little bit smarter!
