Why Rappers FAKE IT Till They MAKE IT

Why Rappers FAKE IT Till They MAKE IT

You have heard the term before… Fake it till you make it.

I really agree with it but I really don’t agree with it.. there is a lot to explain but in this video I want to talk to you about the power of faking it till you make it and how MOST RAPPERS do just that.

What Ive learned in LA (that I find totally fake by the way) is people all faking it till they make it.

That’s why you hear about people in Los Angeles being stuck up and snooty, a lot of them, even if they have absolutely no accomplishments, all act like they are somebody because they want to appear like a somebody… even if they really aren’t.

You know I always tell you Smart Rappers, you need to look, sound and appear as professional as possible for people to take you seriously.

And this is why faking it till you make it makes sense and I agree with it to an extent.

Let me give you an example!

Which one of these rappers are you going to take more seriously? (See Video Above For Pictures)

If that guy on the left was at a party with you and told you he was a rapper, how seriously would you take him?
He at least needs to dress like a rapper. You have to play your part.

Also just to cover the bases, you might say “Rob, some artists like Eminem, Joyner Lucas, J Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Lupe Fiasco don’t over dress and all that, they just dress down and look humble.”

And you are correct, but they do that because that is their brand. Their image is to be a guy who is super talented and doesn’t have to flaunt and use style to amuse their audience.

The super flashy look isn’t their brand.

But also notice they all have a signature look and branding style. From their hair to their way of dressing.

For the Slim Shady heavy portion of Eminem’s Career it was just a white T shirt, baggy pants and the blonde hair. Sometimes a dew rag. He fit perfectly with what a “White Rapper” would look like.

This wasn’t his original look, it was what the label amplified in his image to gain attention, build controversy and get him talked about more.

So when I say fake it till you make it, I don’t mean be FAKE. I mean dress and act how you want people to perceive you.
This video isn’t here to make you want to be FAKE or pretend like you are something you are not.

This video is to inspire you to start playing the part of who you want to become.

If you are a rapper, learn fashion, learn the culture, look like a rapper so people KNOW you are a rapper. Find your style and dress like a rapper so you FEEL like a rapper.

Remember, whatever you direct your thoughts towards is what you end becoming.

Feel, Look, Think, Work Towards And Become what you want to become one day.

Like your parents and all of your elementary school teachers told you, you can be anything you want to be.
You just have to work for it.
